Currently I'm watching Dexter. It's a show I watched when the first season came out a long time ago with my first ever girlfriend. The thing is when we got to around season 3 or so we broke up, and that left a painful memory for the rest of my life related to the show so I could never finish it without thinking about her. Luckily I'm now older and moved on I'm able to watch it without those feelings being hurtful anymore.
I love Dexter, it's a show based on psychology that goes very deep into serial killers being numb to normal emotions. That kind of traumatic event when younger can leave visible imprints on the brain forever. What I love about it is the main guy is not a good guy, but he is at the same time. There is no clear line on what is good and what is bad. When shows are not black and white it forces you to think about things and make up your own mind based on your own morals. Is he a good guy for killing bad guys? or is he still a bad guy for murdering? You be the judge.
Michael C Hall that plays Dexter is also a personal favourite actor of mine. He pulls off the stoic, calm man but also gives off that eery feeling. He plays a character I enjoy in Six Feet Under as well, a great morbid show about death and running a funeral home. It touches on some very deep feelings of life and death that can leave you quite rattled.
I binge watched all of The 100 recently. All 5 seasons while programming, and I love it. I'm a big sucker for sci-fi shows and it's good to see a new one show a lot of promise. The first season was probably my favorite since they were in space and things were very unknown. I have found season 3 and 5 to be the most dullest. The seasons with allie and the chips wasn't very thought out as it could have been. They could have made it a lot more like The Matrix adding in way more cool sci-fi elements but ah well.
I mean whats not to love? you got some extremely hot chicks in here who are great actors. throw in some sci-fi and some action fighting scenes, Clark is also an Aussie like me, so it's interesting seeing her accent change in the show and in interviews. I also find Echo and Octavia pretty damn hot. Her saying "You are one crew or the enemy of one crew" is forever stuck in my head.
The only problem so far is season 5 feels like its being stretched out a bit too much, sometimes one problem T.V shows have after too many seasons is the writer isn't fleshing out the ideas very well and they kinda drag on without remaining interesting. So far S5 has had far too many politics involving Octavia and the tribes rather than keep the focus on the main survival and new developments coming there way. Season 4 was a good example of the writing being better since it added new elements you didn't see coming, from going back to space, coming down, Clark surviving on her own and even Ravens fight with the medical problem and getting the ship back up. Exactly what sci-fi should be like.
They better not cancel the show before it ends or I'll be angry! :P
Been pretty addicted to the show House MD lately. It's a great show. I can really relate with the main character since he's a Misanthrope which means he hates people. I also hate people, I always see the stupid arguments on Facebook and think why are people like an angry mob bickering over stupid stuff? It always just seems ridiculous. I generally keep to myself a lot these days.
The downside to watching medical shows is it makes you a hypercondriac hearing all these rare illnesses and you start to think you have the disease mentioned in the show. It's actually a common problem for medical students too, known as Medical Students Disease where they believe they have the illness they are researching.
Still either way I love it, it's interesting learning about the human body and it's very creative the way the Gregory House diagnosis his patients, it's very compelling and from an emotional point of view of the patients seeing what they may go through. Would highly recommend this show if you like medical shows. It's up the top as one of the best.
The Matrix was released in 1999 and to this day I still believe it to be the best movie ever released. Not only did it have great characters and awesome fighting scenes, but the storyline changed movies, games and pop culture forever. Referencing the matrix that we are all stuck in has become such a common reference it's a household name. The fact is it appeals to people that believe the world we live in is fake. You could take that in a literal way or take it in a more figurative way as such that the general person doesn't know whats going in life.
Of all movies in the world I believe are a must see, it is this one and the 2 sequels. It also has some of the best fighting choreography I've ever seen. It's fast but also very technical. The scene where he fights 100s of agent smiths is my favourite fight scene ever made. The moves he uses are damn right cool.
The movie explores so many different subjects, from programming, gaming, virtual worlds, wool over our eyes, the mirror reflection, what is real and what is not real, fighting, love, survival, machines AI and more.
